Based on what area of Jewish law may the synagogue manager take possession of equipment that was forgotten in a synagogue?
What I saw people writing is that there is a prominent notice that people bring equipment into the synagogue on that understanding. But if I am particular about this, then I am not willing to accept that condition. So on what basis do they treat my property as ownerless, and where did the commandment of returning a lost item disappear to?

If they notify people that the equipment will be taken and they do not come, then they have despaired of recovering it. The synagogue does not need to watch over their belongings when they are negligent. And that is true even when there is an identifying mark.
Nowadays it is common that once every few months the synagogue managers take all the equipment left in the synagogue and donate it or do something else with it. But that equipment belongs to people, and there is the commandment of returning a lost item—on what basis do they allow themselves not to return the equipment to its owners?
