Q&A: A Contradiction Between Booklet 0, Introductions, and Duties of the Heart, Gate of Trust
A Contradiction Between Booklet 0, Introductions, and Duties of the Heart, Gate of Trust
Question
Hello Rabbi,
In Duties of the Heart,
it says that one must believe with complete faith, without any doubts at all, that God is the Cause of causes and the One who moves everything,
and that if we want to ask Him for something, then we must believe in Him at every moment and know that He decides what will happen.
In your booklet you wrote that faith in God is rational, but not certain, like everything else in the world.
From what you say, it seems that there is not really any possibility of believing in God with complete faith, and there will always be a shadow of doubt.
How do you reconcile the contradiction, or do you not?
Answer
I don't understand. Are you setting one person against another?!
