Mistaken Transaction in a Blessing
Question
Hello Rabbi,
Is there such a concept as a mistaken transaction with regard to Isaac's blessing to Jacob? Just as there is a mistaken transaction in a legal act of acquisition, why shouldn't there be such a thing in a blessing?
Best regards,
Answer
Since I do not understand the very concept of a blessing, I do not know how to answer this. As I understand it, a blessing is a kind of request that the Holy One, blessed be He, help the person being blessed. According to that, there is room to say that in a mistaken transaction the requester retracts it. But this is just uninteresting pilpul.
