Q&A: Freedom of Speech
Freedom of Speech
Question
I know that you interpret the scope of freedom of speech very broadly, and I also think it should be allowed even in cases of Holocaust denial and the like. In your opinion, should pro-Palestinian demonstrations be banned? Seemingly, they are only expressing their opinion about the conflict, even though they also support terrorism (albeit not directly) and the non-existence of the state. Is there a difference between such demonstrations in Israel and in the rest of the world, since within the state this is considered “treason”?
Answer
I don’t see a reason to ban it. Certainly not pro-Palestinian demonstrations. But even demonstrations in favor of the massacre should be banned only if there is concern that they will lead to an offense being committed.
In the rest of the countries of the world we have no control. What exactly is the question?
