Q&A: 2 Questions for the Rabbi
2 Questions for the Rabbi
Question
Hello, Your Honor the Rabbi,
I would like to ask 2 questions (not connected to each other),
and I thank you in advance for the response.
1. This week I studied the words of Nachmanides:
“And because the Holy One, blessed be He, does not perform a sign and wonder in every generation before the eyes of every wicked person or heretic, He commanded us to always make a remembrance and a sign of what our eyes saw.” End quote.
First, does the Rabbi think this is a good reason for why we do not see miracles today?
Second, does He in fact show a sign or wonder to the righteous in every generation?
Also, it is still difficult for me to understand what benefit remembering the miracles has for wicked people, who in any case do not believe in tradition and the folk tales of others.
2. I saw in several places that if the world is infinite, then it has no starting point in time.
If that is correct, I would be happy for a short explanation.
Thank you very much!
Answer
1. Definitely not convincing. In my view, the Holy One, blessed be He, reduces His involvement in the world over the generations, and therefore prophecy and open miracles diminish, and in my opinion hidden miracles as well.
2. Nonsense.

Why do you think the Holy One, blessed be He, reduces His involvement?
