Q&A: Prayer
Prayer
Question
According to the view of our master the Rabbi, may he live long, that the Creator is not involved in the world, then why do we pray?
Answer
This was explained in the places where I discussed divine involvement in the world. I elaborated on it in the second book of the trilogy. In brief, anything that is not a request is not problematic even according to my view. Even giving thanks is not problematic, because the thanks is for the creation of the world, by virtue of which everything takes place. As for requests, I truly do not add anything beyond the obligatory prayers. The blessings that are obligatory, I do not feel sufficiently confident to cancel, since sporadic involvement is always possible.
