Q&A: The Account of the Chariot in Maimonides
The Account of the Chariot in Maimonides
Question
Hello Rabbi,
Are you well-versed in Maimonides’ interpretation of the Account of the Chariot in the Guide for the Perplexed, in comparison with Aristotelian metaphysics (or do you know an article that explains it? I just can’t find one)? Do you roughly remember the picture of the living creatures, the wheels, and so on, in Aristotelian terms? Not that it’s all that critical nowadays, but just out of interest (and laziness about deciphering what Maimonides encoded 🙂 ). People don’t really explain it because Maimonides called it “secrets,” even though it’s basically Aristotle with a certain conversion, so I can’t really find a comprehensive explanation.
Thank you very much in any case.
Answer
I’m not familiar with it at all (and I’m not really interested, either).
