Self-Study of Logic

Question

Hello Rabbi,
I would like to study logic in an orderly way. Is there a book by you or by others that someone who is not a mathematician or professional philosopher could also understand?
(Of course I mean up-to-date books and not Aristotle's logic; for that there are already books by Maimonides and Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto.)

Answer

From what I know, I can recommend Irving Copi's book, Introduction to Logic. On the more philosophical side, there is Hugo Bergmann's book, Introduction to the Theory of Logic. It is quite a heavy book, but as far as I remember it does not require prior education.
There may be newer books that I am not familiar with.

True, the direction is more toward applied logic, but it may suit your needs.
