Q&A: Slander from a Machine
Slander from a Machine
Question
If there is a machine that provides slander, is it permitted to receive it?
I mean when there is no direct benefit from it.
For example, a computer gives me statistics about the cleanliness of cities, and I see how much the residents of a certain city litter more than people in other places.
That is quite derogatory, and I have no practical benefit from it.
Or a chip that tells me about passengers not wearing a seat belt, and I don’t comment to them at the time and there is no benefit at all.
Just to know who is a despicable person.
Is it permitted?
Answer
I do not see any difference between a person and a computer in this regard. The prohibition on the recipient does not depend on the prohibition on the one who tells it.
