Q&A: Abortion, the Right, and Christianity
Abortion, the Right, and Christianity
Question
In the land of unlimited possibilities (the U.S.), the main debate around abortion revolves around the right-wing versus the left-wing camp. If you look more deeply, you can also say with fairly high certainty that 99 percent of those who oppose abortion are religious. From this, the Democrats (the left) argue that this is not really a moral debate at all, but a religious one, since it cannot be that everyone who argues against abortion is also a religious person. And since the United States is a secular country, abortion cannot be prohibited, because that would contradict the principle of separation of religion and state. What do you think of this argument? Is there a religious element in opposition to abortion?
Answer
That’s just sophistry. They oppose abortion, and that is their position. Incidentally, in my view this is a moral prohibition far more than a religious one.
Incidentally, supporters of abortion also belong to a full-fledged religion of brainwashing, and because of their religion they do not see the terrible moral wrong involved in it.
Incidentally, a secular state should not automatically adopt every value held by secular people.
