Q&A: The Haredim Against Ben-Gvir
The Haredim Against Ben-Gvir
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I would be glad to know the Rabbi’s opinion about the Arabic headline in Yated Ne’eman against Ben-Gvir.
Who is right?
And even if they are right—is there any justification for such a step?
Thanks in advance.
Answer
My opinion is that it’s disgusting, but not surprising.
Discussion on Answer
Rabbi Dr. Aharon Eitan wrote an article about the Temple Mount,
and it seems that this issue is deeply significant to Muslims all over the world, including the secular ones among them.
And this is exactly the issue that can stir up Islam against us—even distant Muslim countries where a large portion of the citizens there wouldn’t know how to point out on a map where the State of Israel is; still, the issue of the mosques on the Temple Mount holds a strong place in their hearts and ignites irrational hatred.
It’s true that Herzl of blessed memory and Ben-Gurion of blessed memory spoke, wanted, dreamed, and talked even about rebuilding the Temple, but we can plainly see that at present this is not possible and is very dangerous.
The captured documents from Gaza speak, all in all, about only two reasons for the pogrom of Simchat Torah:
Bibi’s progress toward closing a deal with the Saudis while ignoring the Palestinian issue,
and what is happening on the Temple Mount.
That and nothing more.
It’s true that they hate us and want to destroy us, and still, the level of the temperature—and therefore the realization of plans—depends a great deal on our actions as well.
Just like civilized people get angry about this or that or even a third thing, but in practice won’t do anything… and only when people anger us a lot will we go out to a demonstration… or to any other real action.
Bottom line, the issue of the Temple Mount inflames them.
Maybe wisdom dictates that we restrain ourselves on this issue so that blood will not be spilled?
After all, if we don’t act wisely, our chances of surviving here over time will shrink…
Thanks
