Q&A: Fascism and Anti-Semitism
Fascism and Anti-Semitism
Question
Does the fact that fascism and massive anti-Semitism come mainly from the right (and progressive anti-Semitism too, in my opinion, comes mainly from Muslim elements and less from liberals) indicate that the right’s norms, such as nationalism and patriotism, are dangerous ideologies?
Answer
It’s hard in a short message to point out all the flaws in this question, beyond the superficial generalizations and detached assumptions it contains.
Meanwhile, most anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment in the world today comes from the left, and definitely not only from Muslims. That is aside from the inherent self-destructiveness and the loss of moral and intellectual direction in the progressive outlooks that are taking over larger and larger parts of the (shrinking) left.
There are problematic expressions on both the right and the left, usually at the extremes. And even if all of them were like that, it would only mean that these ideologies are indeed dangerous, but that still would not invalidate them.
