Q&A: The Prevailing Attitude in the Physics Community Regarding a Blind Creation Process
The Prevailing Attitude in the Physics Community Regarding a Blind Creation Process
Question
The Rabbi cites in one of his books data on American scientists—if I remember correctly, about half of them are creationists. Recently I saw, from a very unreliable source, that the physics community, due to the complexity of the universe, has settled on two options: non-blind prior design by an entity, or an infinite number of parallel universes. Does the Rabbi know these data? Does the Rabbi have any articles about an infinite number of parallel universes?
Answer
I don’t remember that figure, and I’m not familiar with these ones either. I don’t have an article about it because I have nothing to say. I am very skeptical of these speculations, which are usually just collections of words without any real content. For example, there are people who think that the problems of quantum theory will be solved if we assume a multiverse, but I am very doubtful about that.
Forgive the confusion between creationism and evolution under divine guidance… In your beautiful book "God Plays Dice," page 10, you wrote as follows: 5% of American scientists believe in creationism, 40% in evolution under divine guidance, and 55% in evolution that is not guided.
Good evening and blessings.
