Pictures of the Earth are taken every day by satellites, and there are thousands of accumulated pictures and videos from astronauts on the space station. There are entire websites with huge galleries of photographs from space, with credits and dates of the photography, etc. Satellite imagery is used daily for meteorology and more.

There are comprehensive explanations there, and also footage of ships through telescopes—they disappear until only the mast is peeking out—at full size (magnified by telescope).
