What is there to explain here? Does one really need an explanation for why we follow the majority? There are sometimes majority-rules that are formal and not probabilistic. But usually the logic is self-evident.
Rabbi Shimon Shkop writes in Gate 3, Chapter 4, that there is no logic in majority rule.
