Your claim is that the eradication should be understood in an intellectual context, and you said that after what happened on October 7, you came closer to an intellectual understanding of how it could be that the Torah commanded such a thing (although it still is not entirely clear to you).
Still, at least two questions remain:
A. Why not spare at least infants under one year old, who surely have not yet absorbed hatred of the Jewish people?
B. In the Prophets it is stated that the flock of Amalek also had to be killed. Why?
Answer
A. If you listened to the podcast, this was explained there. It has nothing whatsoever to do with sins and sinners. This is preventive killing. Punishment I would not impose even on adults, unless they are involved in terror and murder.
B. I have no idea. Perhaps in order to inculcate the eradication of evil and not to derive benefit from it.
