“And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”
But elsewhere it says (Isaiah 66:1):
“So said the Lord: The heavens are My throne and the earth is My footstool; what house could you build for Me, and what place could serve as My resting place?”
(This is familiar from the Rosh Chodesh haftarah, though not when Rosh Chodesh falls on the Sabbath, when instead we read from II Kings, in accordance with Parashat Shekalim.)
How can these two verses be reconciled?
