Q&A: Religious Exclusivity
Religious Exclusivity
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I heard in your latest podcast that you do not believe in religious exclusivity (you had said this many times before as well). My question is how this fits with your being a monist. After all, religions are based on factual claims (whether God revealed Himself, to whom, and what He said; what He expects from human beings). Each religion contradicts the others on many points. Perhaps you mean that only in terms of God’s attitude toward a person, He relates in the same way to anyone who tries to fulfill His commandments to the best of his understanding. But doesn’t God prefer someone who actually fulfills His will, and not just someone who thinks he is fulfilling His will?
Answer
I explained this both in the past and in this podcast as well. Indeed.
