I don't have a general method. Start reading and let it develop according to your areas of interest. I suggest you begin by reading secondary literature (not primary sources), that is, books about philosophy. Once you narrow down what interests you, you can go into it more deeply.
Without knowing anything specific, generally the Open University books are good.
