Is it permitted for girls to study Talmud?
Question
Is it permitted for girls to study Talmud?
Is there a "great authority" who permits this?
Answer
They are obligated to study Talmud. As for your second question, it depends whom you call a "great authority." In my view, everyone who is truly great permits it and requires it. Whoever does not—is not great. a0

That conclusion is mine. I disagree with them in their assumption that this is a blessing over commandments. Studying the laws that pertain to them is not Torah study in my view. The proof is that they are obligated in this even though they are exempt from the commandment of Torah study. And the very fact that they are obligated to recite the blessing proves that this is not a blessing over commandments but rather a blessing of praise.
Hi, in the attached article it was brought in the name of the Magen Avraham and the Biur Halakha that women recite the blessing over Torah study because they need to learn the laws that pertain to them; however, afterward the conclusion was drawn that the blessing over Torah study is a blessing of praise and not a blessing over commandments. In light of that, how should we understand their explanation for the reason for the blessing?
(How is a preparatory act for a commandment connected to a blessing of praise?)
