Question

Hello Rabbi. I am Haredi, though I pray near my home with a Religious Zionist congregation, and there is a disabled man there who rides a mobility scooter from the Tzomet Institute. I know the rider and know that he is God-fearing and has great faith. At first he was unsure whether to use this vehicle on the Sabbath, and one of the rabbis in the area called him over and told him that he must ride it. Recently I happened to arrive early once for prayers, and I saw that he is also the one who opens the main door of the synagogue. But I noticed that when he turned the key and removed it from the vehicle, the front light went out. So I asked: how can there possibly be permission to turn off a headlight on the Sabbath? It clearly does not look as though there is any delay between turning the key and the light going out, or any indirect causation; it looks completely straightforward: turn the key, and as a result the light goes out, like any electrical device.

P.S. In Bnei Brak, as is well known, there are no such phenomena, but there I have a different question that relates to causing suffering to animals. As is well known, בעקבות the light rail works, all of Bnei Brak has filled up with rats, and my question is whether it is permissible to hitch a ride and stand with both feet on two rats (one rat under each foot) and use the rats as a skateboard?
