Q&A: Creation without time / change without time
Creation without time / change without time
Question
I’m trying to formulate the point that’s bothering me from a few different angles, because of the limits of my thinking—sorry in advance:
How much time has passed since God created?
If it’s infinite, then seemingly creation would never have been reached.
If the amount of time is finite, that would imply that God is finite.
If no time has passed, then creation was together with the Creator, so He could not have created it.
If there was no time before creation, then how can the Creator have preceded it? And how can it be that He did not create and then afterwards created? How can there have been a change in Him if there is no time? How can you explain change without a framework of time?
Answer
According to our tradition, about 6,000 years. According to science, about 14 billion years.
Definitely not infinite.
Why would a finite amount of time imply that God is finite? I didn’t understand.
From this point on, I completely lost you.
