Proof of God's existence?
Question
A few questions for the Rabbi.
1.
Definition of God: reality itself.
Premise: there is being (there is reality)
Therefore: God exists.
In other words, if there is reality (an evident premise), and reality itself is the divine and is a unity (monotheism: God is one, and there is no singularity like His), then reality is God, and He therefore certainly exists.
2. If God is one, how are there created beings? Where are we located? Is this basically the problem of unity and multiplicity in philosophy?
Answer
1. I hope you yourself understand this collection of words. I didn’t understand a thing.
2. It’s not connected to unity and multiplicity, but perhaps to transcendence and immanence, and maybe not even that. I once wrote, in the name of Rabbi Shem Tov Gפן, that this can be understood through the analogy of dimensions. The Holy One, blessed be He, contains all of four-dimensional reality, while we are three-dimensional, and therefore we do not occupy any space and do not take anything away from Him.
