Gödel, Escher, Bach
Question
Hello Rabbi,
Have you studied the book "Gödel, Escher, Bach"?
If so, I’d be happy to know what you think of it.
Answer
I read significant parts of it in English (before it was translated). In my view it’s a beautiful book, and it presents the ideas in a very יפה and intelligent way. It also makes interesting connections. The parts about the music I didn’t really understand, to my regret.
Discussion on Answer
Yes, I think I’m really not on that level, and I admit I only casually flipped through it, but over there they argue דווקא that there is holism that emerges from reductionism, which I connect to your synthetic-analytic issue.
But the book also has an argument that you don’t agree with.
