A painful and shameful question
A relative of mine, a clinical psychologist in the Haredi sector, sent me a question.
A patient of hers was sexually abused as a minor at a boarding school where she was raised by a staff member.
According to the law in court, she receives 500,000 NIS.
But she preferred to go to court so as not to ruin the life of the abuser, and perhaps for other reasons.
She went to court and requested reimbursement of the cost of mental health treatments one year back and for years ahead.
The rabbi told her that he had to find out what she was entitled to according to the law.
In the Rabbi's opinion, is her demand excessive?
Too low?
What should she demand?
