Hello Rabbi, regarding the Rabbi's lesson, Teshuva: Its Meaning and Laws, Lesson 3 Part 2. I didn't really understand what was illogical about the response to Teshuva, where is the paradox?
I move from point A to point B. I don't pull myself out of the pit by the tassel of my head. I just climb out of the pit.

I explained it in class. What's not clear?
Let's say I have a value system X and from it I committed a sin. From the weakness of the will I showed that repentance is a change in the value system (we say system Y). Now the question arises how this change is accomplished: If I decided to change to system Y, it means that it is already different for me (since I already believe in it and want to reach it). So how did this change happen? Apparently only naturally. But a change in a value system that happens naturally is worthless. This is not what is called repenting.
