Bridge legend
Hello Rabbi,
Yesterday I read the story "The Legend of the Bridge" by Pajama Library to the children. It tells of two friends who had a fight and as a result, one of them dug a canal between them. The other saw this and hired a craftsman to build a fence to separate them. But when he returned, he saw that the craftsman had built a bridge over the canal, which reconciled his friend. And the story ended with their reconciliation.
After the story, the question arose in the family whether he legally had to pay the craftsman or not, and we didn't know how to explain it. Can the rabbi provide some direction on the matter (and if possible in simple language for the children)?
hand.
