From what I know, there is a prohibition in church because it is a pleasure from the tzaddik, fishing if there are candles or pictures or music there, all of these are pleasures from idolatry. But is there a prohibition in actually staying in church without pleasure?

In the Shulchan Shulchan Yod, Si' Kanz 63 categorically prohibits it. See also Si' Kanz 61. Although I personally do not understand what prohibition there is in this other than pleasure. In my opinion, staying for the purpose of study is permitted.
