Death requests in the Bible.
Hello Rabbi, I have a question that requires extensive knowledge of the Bible. I would be grateful if the Rabbi or any of the site visitors could help me.
I am looking for all the places in the Bible where a death wish is mentioned, so far I have found:
1. Rebecca – I have been a little in my life because of the daughters of Heth.
2. Rachel – Give me sons, or else I will die.
3. “May we die by the hand of God in the land of Egypt, while we are sitting by the pot of meat.
4. People – If we had died in the land of Egypt or in this desert, we would have died.
5. Moses – Please kill me, kill me if I have found favor in your eyes.
6. Balaam – May my soul die the death of the righteous, and may my end be like his.
7. Abimelech – Draw your sword and kill me, lest they say, "A woman killed him."
8. Samson – My soul will die with the Philistines.
9. Zebah and Zalmunna – Rise up and strike us.
10. Saul – Draw your sword and pierce me with it.
11. David – May I die instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son.
12. Elijah – And he came and sat down under a certain tree and asked for his soul to die.
13. Jeremiah – Cursed be the day on which I was born.
14. Jonah – And he asked his soul to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
15. Jonah – And now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.
16. Job – Cursed be the day on which I was born.
17. Samson – and his soul was shortened to death.
If anyone remembers any other places I would love to hear.
