Fake Corona "epidemic"
Hello Rabbi
At the time, I sent here a letter from senior doctors who warned of the government's overreaction to the coronavirus. They warned that the cost of the lockdown could outweigh the benefits, and that the government's policy was too severe.
The rabbi at the time pretty much dismissed their opinion.
We are over five months into the event, and the facts are (in my opinion at least) unequivocal.
If we agree that the intuitive definition of a pandemic is higher than normal mortality, the CBS data shows us that mortality in the period January-July 2020 is lower than the corresponding period in 2019.
Apart from this – we see many people who are defined as "sick" with Corona when in the worst case they experience a kind of mild flu and sometimes not even that (feeling completely healthy)
It is true that there are some patients who are defined as severely ill (although the definitions here are also very fluid, it turns out) – but this is not something we haven't seen in seasonal cases of influenza.
In light of all this, is there no room for admitting – we were wrong, we got carried away by the publicized panic, we were scared for nothing by a routine virus and turned it into the epidemic of the century?
In light of the experience of over five months, can't it still be determined that the mountain gave birth to a mouse? (And no, it's not thanks to the lockdown)
