What does the rabbi think about going to a same-sex couple's wedding?
Forbidden/permitted/appropriate?

I don't think there's a prohibition, but there's a point to it. It's possible and appropriate to remain friends and wish them all the best, but a wedding is a celebration of life under prohibition, and I wouldn't go for that.
