Parallel levels of explanation
As I understand it, 'parallel levels of explanation' are only correct if the sum of two explanations creates a complete explanation. That is, each part constitutes a part of the big picture of the explanation. In light of this, how can one understand the relationship between the 'manifest' and 'hidden' parts? That is, one can understand the laws both in the form of 'manifest' and in the form of 'hidden' –
Do these two together create a complete structure of explanation (and then we have to say that there are gray areas that each complements)? Or are these actually two systems that explain all the facts differently. In other words, these are different languages and one explanation.
