permitted?
Is it permissible to be a personal security guard?
Let's say on a day of order, and the security guard sees a gunshot fired at the Minister of Defense, whom he is guarding, he must jump, take the shot, and die in the minister's place. Is this permissible according to Halacha?

It is permissible, just as it is permissible to risk war to protect the public. A public figure has a public status (unfortunately) and harming him is a significant harm to the entire public. Therefore, the public can decide to protect him at the cost of the lives of others.
