poker

I've recently become interested in the game of poker. I've checked out a number of responses about the game, and they're all wrong and treat it like fate (dice), and therefore prohibit it, even those who don't see a problem with reference.
Contrary to the image, poker is a distinct strategy game. There is a mathematically solved GTO for all positions, and it differs from chess in that psychology and "bluffs" are a very significant part of the game. Of course, psychology is not fate either, but it is difficult to measure or "solve".
In the short term, anything can happen, of course, but the law of large numbers – after a period of time, a good technique will win out over a less good one.
Even relatively small gaps in a player's talent will manifest themselves clearly throughout their career.

Is there another aspect of gambling that prohibits gambling?

Based on what you describe, I don't think there is a halachic problem with this. The question of cheating in a game is an interesting one. I touched on it in a discussion of Golden Bulls on the BBC (I now find it in note 6 of column 197, but I remember an explicit discussion of it).
