Question about Lag BaOmer and the Rashbi's Hilulat

שו"תQuestion about Lag BaOmer and the Rashbi's Hilulat
שאל לפני 10 שנים

How do you relate to the whole issue of Lag BaOmer to the celebration of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai? I ask because I am not clear about the whole issue surrounding this day and I would be happy to understand it more, including understanding the meaning of this day.

I don't think it has any special meaning. It is an opportunity to connect with the world of the occult because it is the day of Rashbi's passing. The meanings are inserted into this day retrospectively. See Responsa Hatas, Chayvid Si' Relag: I knew that I had heard that now I would prepare my dwelling and that from afar they would come and seek the Lord in Safed on the day of Lag BaOmer in the hallula of the late Dreshbi. And if all their intention was for Shas, their reward would undoubtedly be great… But for this reason alone I was one of the Pharisees, as a son of Druthai, who would not have to sit there and change their custom in front of them and who would not want to associate with them in this. Because several Karkurim Karkarim, in the Pasha of the Holy See, 3055, in the pamphlet of the customs of prohibition, the letter 14, about the places that perform Yot on the day a miracle was performed for them… That the Phan D Dameran is from the island of 106 from bondage to freedom, they said that singing from death to life, not at all. But to set a date on which a miracle was not performed and was not mentioned in Shas and the rulings anywhere and a hint and allusion, is only the prevention of eulogies and fasting from custom, and the reasons for it themselves are unknown to us. And in the siddur of Mahar Yavetz 20, according to Nether, it is stated that all of it is obligatory and all of it is due, namely, ‘Hod in Hod’, the יואש. But according to Piz, it was appropriate to determine all good when we reach the Virtues [Gevura in Gevura] on the ninth day of the Omer, except that in the Lord’s sight they are the days of Nissan and there is no eulogy on it… Regarding the riddle at the end, there is much to expand on, and so on. —————————————————————————————— Asks: Why does the Chass write that he does not know for what reason Tachanun is not said on Lag BaOmer – does this really have no root according to the revelation at all? After all, both the Shulchan and the Rema, as I believe, bring this into the halakhah, and if so, there must be (I assume) first-timers who ruled so or instituted it – and therefore I do not understand how it is possible that Tachanun is not said on it without a source? —————————————————————————————— Rabbi: There are customs that develop and the poskim do not know the origin or reasoning for them. I am not sure that the Hatas intends to say that there is no point, but rather that he does not know the point. See my article: Required for Lag BaOmer .
