Regarding the evidence about God.

שו"תRegarding the evidence about God.
שאל לפני 3 שנים

Hello.
This morning I spoke with a wise man, and briefly presented to him the cosmological view and the theological physics. (He was familiar with them)
Regarding cosmology:
(Sorry for the imperfect wording.)
I told him this: In our world, which is a world of matter, everything has a prior cause, and therefore the world and the primary matter must have a prior cause, and therefore in order not to enter into a regression of infinite causes, it is reasonable to assume that there is a cause that does not need a cause and is not matter and therefore does not need a cause.
He pressed twice:
A. What is the problem with regression? What is problematic about this answer?
on. We only know matter. Therefore, to say something that is not matter is like saying "something that is not something." In other words, I didn't define anything. And when I tried to tell him that it "exists," he asked me in what respect does it exist? We only know physical, material existence.

We also talked about the physico-theological view:
I told him that I had evidence from the laws of nature that they work and that natural selection is created by their power with orderly results until we get something wonderful and orderly like man. And since that is the case, it makes sense to ask how the laws are so suitable that if you throw plasticine into them, after billions of years an entire zoo emerges. In other words, the laws could have been a million other options that produce nothing.
He made it difficult:
He claimed to me that the fact that I see an orderly result is an illusion.
Because if I had many examples of universes with other laws that have nothing in them, there would be something to talk about, but when I only have one example, then even if a world with other laws were created, perhaps completely different creatures or things would be created, which I would also consider to be ordered. He pressed: Who determined that it was ordered?
In other words: How do you evaluate and define that something is orderly when these are the only rules you know?

Thank you very much.

Cosmological: A. I explained this in the first book. Infinite regression is not an explanation but an evasion of explanation. Like the joke about "turtles all the way to the bottom." Such regression assumes an actual, not potential, infinity. See there for details. B. According to this, it is impossible to say that light exists or different force fields, since they are not matter either. This is nonsense. The concept of existence is not specifically related to matter. It is true that what we know directly is only material objects, but where does one attach the concept of existence to this? It is like saying that an object with a form that we have not yet seen is impossible. There is no such thing as "in what respect does it exist." Existence is not in one respect or another. It is a fundamental concept and cannot be placed on other concepts. Incidentally, even the atheist who claims that God does not exist assumes that in principle the concept of existence applies to such an object.   Physicotheological: I explained that at length there too. There is an objective definition of order, through the concept of entropy. If order were a subjective matter then entropy could not appear in the laws of physics. It is not measured against other worlds that you imagine but against the whole range of possible worlds. In almost all of them the degree of order would be lower. I gave a beautiful example of this from the SETI project.
