Settlements and the Palestinian Issue

שו"תSettlements and the Palestinian Issue
שאל לפני 3 שנים

Hello Rabbi,
I ask this question as a completely practical centrist who is wondering what your position is on the subject.
Does the Rabbi see any value in building in isolated settlements in the given situation?
If not, is the Rabbi willing to accept an approach that requires all settlements to be evacuated (except for the blocs, of course) and the IDF to continue to secure us until the day comes (hopefully) when we can divorce the Palestinians in a reasonable manner?
There is such a proposal by the Molad organization and others (supported by many senior military personnel), and they list its advantages in that it will save us a fortune, neutralize the Messianics from establishing an irreversible reality in the territories in which we will not be able to establish a Palestinian state, etc., etc., and I was interested in knowing what the rabbi thinks about it, both practically and ethically.

thanks,

I don't know, because this is not a plan but perhaps one step out of something that is supposed to be a complete plan. To formulate a position on this, you need to see a complete plan with options for every situation that could happen. Specifically regarding this, it is not clear why to evacuate settlements now before it is necessary. At most, do not allow them to expand. Evacuate when the need and opportunity arise. But the whole thing is hypothetical and there's no point in forming a position on this question. It won't happen in practice anyway, so what's the point of discussing it?!
