The story of jaundice according to Halacha

שו"תThe story of jaundice according to Halacha
שאל לפני שנה 1

peace,
The Rabbi brings up the story of jaundice with a yeshiva student in the context of what a reasonable person should believe, etc.
I want to know if there is a halachic problem with this, of not being overly concerned or not guessing. If there is a column dedicated to this, I would be happy if you could direct me to it.
I tend to think that what can be explained, even if it's not really accepted in the scientific world, and even if it's really nonsense, there's no problem with that because I don't claim to do it with magic, but I'd love to know your position.

I don't remember a column. I wouldn't hang it on the question of whether there is an explanation or not. There are scientific processes for which we have no explanation, and would that be a prohibition? It should be hung on the dispute of the Rishonim whether there is a reality in the forces from that side or not. According to the Maimonides, there is no prohibition in anything that works. Whereas according to the Maimonides and his ilk, there can be a prohibition even in something that works. In other words, it may depend on the question of whether it works and not whether there is an explanation.
