Walking to the cemetery

שו"תWalking to the cemetery
שאל לפני 6 שנים

According to how the rabbi presents in "Mahalachim Bin Ha'O'Madim" the relationship between halacha and law, what is the point of studying halacha if it is impossible to live by it anyway (of course, according to the laws of the rabbinical court)? Similarly, is there any point in going to a rabbinical court that will rule according to the Shulchan Arbiter and not to a court that will rule according to the correct way to conduct oneself?

One does not study in order to apply it. The purpose of study is to adhere to God and His will. Much of the Torah is not applicable today, and there is something that was never applicable (such as a rebellious son or a remote city). Regarding going to court, see my article on courts and refreshing halachah: https://mikyab.net/%D7%9B%D7%AA%D7%91%D7%99%D7%9D/%D7%9E%D7%90%D7%9E%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9D/%D7%A2%D7%9C-%D7%90%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%AA%D7%95%D7%93%D7%95%D7%9B%D7%A1%D7%99%D7%94-%D7%9E%D7%95%D7%93%D7%A8%D7%A0%D7%99%D7%AA-%D7%A7%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%A6%D7%95%D7%AA-%D7%95%D7%A9%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%95%D7%A9
