Since the funeral in Bnei Brak blocked the entire Gush Dan, people should not suffer because of it.
(Let's assume there is no problem of life safety, since the number of people was smaller)

I don't have a clear answer to that. Streets are blocked for all sorts of different and strange reasons. Although here it was really on a much larger scale, and I also tend to think that it was not appropriate to do so (by the way, part of it was probably hysteria on the part of the police who chose for themselves the easy option of scaring and closing everything down). But I thought there was another problem with the funeral date, because it forced the police to work on Shabbat. A few minutes after Saturday night, police officers were interviewed and said that the preparatory work was finished. If a funeral can be postponed by two days because the number of participants increases, it is certainly worth postponing to prevent desecration of Shabbat. If they had held a mass on Shabbat, the government would have fallen.
