Traveling on Shabbat during military service

שו"תTraveling on Shabbat during military service
שאל לפני שנה 1

peace
I am a reserve soldier in the Judea and Samaria sector. On Shabbat next week, my family will be staying in a town relatively close to the post where my unit is stationed (a 25-minute drive). I plan to go visit them before Shabbat, as part of the rest time I have between the various tasks I perform (reconnaissance, checkpoint, standby squad).
The question is whether I could return to the post on Shabbat itself, given that the next mission I will undertake will only be on Shabbat morning, and there is no need for me to remain at the post until then.

If the hardship is great, it can be permitted. It's a kind of deception. You travel to visit your family, and on Shabbat you have to travel because of the mission, so it's permitted. But in a reasonable situation (when the hardship is not very great) I wouldn't do it. You know in advance that you will have to violate Shabbat and it is appropriate to prevent this.
