You don’t have to do anything. The custom is to stand, and the criticism in favor of sitting is already well known (so as not to give the impression that this is a more important part of the Torah than the rest). What difference would it make what I say here? At most, it would just be added to the opinions on either side. Do what you want / what you think is right.
