Question

Hello, 
As is well known, Rabbi HaNazir linked the mode of thought expressed in the hermeneutical principles to prophetic ability. 
Does the Rabbi know of earlier sources for this idea (even though Rabbi HaNazir himself does not cite any, and I find it hard to believe that someone as systematic as he was would have missed them…), or other thinkers who went in a similar direction?
