Q&A: The Jewish Tradition Versus Reason
The Jewish Tradition Versus Reason
Question
Hello, honorable Rabbi,
I wanted to ask the Rabbi: there is a logical argument that if the Holy One, blessed be He, wants to show human beings the way by which they should serve Him / has some purpose for human beings, etc., then He should reveal Himself to the entire world and convey His command to them.
But the religious reality of the Jewish tradition is that the Holy One, blessed be He, revealed Himself only to the Jewish people and gave the Torah only to them.
Doesn’t the Rabbi see the credibility of the Jewish tradition as being greatly weakened by this reality?
Best regards,
Israel
Answer
He also gave the descendants of Noah their seven commandments. Apparently, He does not expect anything beyond that from them.
