I work near the Alon Towers in Tel Aviv. Since the synagogue is too small to accommodate everyone, people pray in the plaza, in a public place. Is that permitted, or is it preferable to pray without a minyan in an enclosed place? The source for the prohibition is in Berakhot: Rav Kahana said, “It is repugnant to me when someone prays in an open field.”
