Q&A: Religious Thinking
Religious Thinking
Question
This may sound a bit superficial, but if we take for example what’s happening in America, where religious conservatives consistently deny evolution, deny the climate crisis, and basically you could say recoil from scientific arguments and try to rely on religious arguments—doesn’t that indicate something about the nature of religious people as a collective? Like, that they’re usually more foolish? Another question: what do you think about American capitalism? Is it worth implementing it here in Israel as well?
Answer
I actually see the picture the other way around. When you look at academic and liberal circles, you see that they tend to deny belief in God. Doesn’t that indicate something about the nature of such people as a collective—that they are foolish and driven by fashions? And I haven’t even started talking about progressive discourse.
I don’t know what you mean by American capitalism. That’s too general a question.
