Q&A: Why has the Rabbi been writing a lot lately about current issues?
Why has the Rabbi been writing a lot lately about current issues?
Question
Hello and blessings to the Rabbi,
Sorry for the question, but I’d be glad to know why lately the Rabbi has been dealing more with current issues and less with conceptual Talmudic analysis or wisdom. I very much enjoyed the column about a pursuer and the explanation of the views and underlying principles there, and lately I feel there’s a lack of columns like that.
Is there a reason for this, or is it simply the Rabbi’s tendency (and it’s hard to interpret a person’s tendency)?
I definitely understand the importance of columns on current issues, and as a yeshiva student, the column about the great Haredi Torah scholars definitely changed quite a bit in my attitude toward them. I’m only saying: do not let go of either one.
Answer
You’re writing this at exactly the time when I’ve just finished a series of three columns on a fortiori reasoning. I write about whatever comes up for me and that I want to share. I don’t have plans according to which I operate—what to write about and what not to write about.
