Interfacing a learning machine with the brain
Hello Rabbi,
The rabbi argues that in addition to the computational aspect of man, there is also a metaphysical side of the soul. If we can create an interface between the brain and a learning machine in a way that expands human capabilities, doesn't this show that man is just another type of learning machine that is limited to proteins and organic matter but can also expand to matter and electricity without a metaphysical aspect?

I don't think so. There are abilities that are purely computational. The question is what is the nature of the demon inside the machine. Beyond that, when you perfect the machine, the soul is still inside it. So it's possible that the perfected machine just allows the soul to bring out more abilities.
