The theory of proper names

שו"תThe theory of proper names
שאל לפני 7 שנים

The proper name (such as Moses, England, Aristotle), in my opinion, indicates our instinctive attitude towards the object to which it was decided to give the name. This attitude is actually a concept by which we recognize that the man is indeed Moses, the country is England, etc. Although, I saw a lecture (link below) that discussed the difference between the Frege-Russell theory and that of Mill and Kripke. Is there something wrong with the proposal I made? Was what I wrote Kripke's view, and if not, what is the difference?

I didn't understand the question. What did you write? Where? Write your suggestion here and we can discuss. A name is not a concept, so I don't understand what you are writing here. A name is a word, and the connection between it and the object is conventional. A name refers to the object itself (its essence) and descriptions refer to its characteristics (=its form). In my book Two Carts I discussed the difference between a name and a description (Russell's two types of pointing in his famous article).
