Q&A: Bringing Lomdus into Tractate Zevachim
Bringing Lomdus into Tractate Zevachim
Question
In the Daf Yomi they’re starting tractate Zevachim, and more generally entering a year of studying the sacrificial-order tractates, which could really break the learners’ spirit. I once heard you say that the Briskers study the sacrificial tractates because there you can give conceptual lomdish definitions in an area that isn’t connected to our ordinary common sense. And I’m wondering: what kind of lomdus can be brought into this tractate? Have you given classes on the topic that one could listen to, or do you know someone who gives a class? It could definitely save the learning and turn it from a potion of death into a potion of life.
Answer
Are there really so few lomdish classes on the sacrificial tractates? You can search online and in the databases. I don’t have organized classes on these tractates.
It’s really lacking online.
